Activities at the surrounding area of Olympus Mountain

Either you' re looking for adventure or relaxation, night life or peace and quiet, Kapetas Apartments in Skotina  Beach can be your starting point. 

Litochoro, at the foot of Mountain Olympus, where you can go trekking, mountain climbing, canyoning, off-roading or dirt bike riding and mountain biking, is only 10 km away.

 

Platamon and Leptokarya, where you can find banks, restaurants, cafeterias and night life, are just 3 km away.

The traditional village of Palaios Panteleimon which deserves a visit to enjoy the marvelous view of the Thermaicos Gulf, the local architecture and the  local cuisine, is just 10 minutes away by car.

Among the sightseeings of the area are the Castle of Platamon and the Archaeological area of Dion which is best known for its great ancient Macedonian sanctuary of Zeus and city, much of which is visible in the Archaeological Park of Dion and the Archaeological Museum of Dion.

If you decide to drive a little bit longer pay a visit at Meteora (147 km away),  a fascinating rock formation  with marvelous, breathtaking complexes of Eastern Orthodox monasteries,  included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Approximately 90km away ​is situated Vergina, best known as the site of ancient Aigai, awarded  by UNESCO World Heritage Site status as "an exceptional testimony to a significant development in European civilization, at the transition from classical city-state to the imperial structure of  the Hellenistic and Roman periods". 

The excavation unearthed the burial sites of many kings of Macedon, including the tomb of Philip II, father of Alexander the Great, which, unlike so many other tombs, had not been disturbed or looted. It is also the site of an extensive royal palace. The archaeological museum of Vergina was built to house all the artifacts found at the site and is one of the most important museums in Greece.

The city of Thessaloniki, 100 km away, is"the co-capital of Greece and a popular tourist destination. Two of the city's most famous museums include the Archaeological Museum of Thessaloniki and the Museum of Byzantine Culture. International and domestic air traffic to and from the city is served by Thessaloniki Airport "Makedonia"

Beaches 

To the shadow of Mountain Olympus, under the Castle of  Platamon the coastline seems endless ...

In Skotina the sandy coast and shallow waters are suitable for small children.

Relax and enjoy the beautiful sea waters either alone or at the beach bars of the area.

 

Few kilometers away there are plenty beaches to visit at Plaka Litochoro, Leptokarya, Platamon, San Panteleimon and Neoi Poroi. Μany of them are organised  with beach bars, sunbeds and lifeguards.
